Our Cuisinart DLC-2011CHB Review

The Cuisinart DLC-2011CHB gets heavy praise on many online forums, a major reason why we decided to give our own review on it. There is hardly anything to complaint or even crib on. It works wonderfully well and does just about everything to the best possible extent that you can imagine an omnipotent food processor should do. To start with, it makes superb bread crumbs, minces herbs to precision, makes fine salsa and minces or chops raw/cooked meat with ease. Some of the things it does decent but not exactly that well such as shredding cheese, carrot and the likes, which is fine but some of it gets stuck between the disc and lid. What it isn’t adept at though is slicing green onions when added in bulk. The entire ensemble gets dragged down too quickly for the discs to work its magic. The trick however is to add each onion one by one.

Likewise, cleaning and maintaining this food processor can be a tricky task. See, it has lots of nooks and cracks that accumulate food particles and what not. It takes a little extra than comparable food processors to clean the complete package but it is well worth the effort considering all that it can achieve. Also, do remember that the base is heavy at around 12 pounds when empty and this can be tricky to move around so you better find a decent spot for it, one where it will sit for the rest of its useful life.

The motor is powerful enough and it does a decent job overall. While the dough button slows down the rotations, it does not produce that much of a difference. Thankfully though the motor does not heave under the pressure of making butter or kneading any kind of dough. Even pizza dough came out perfect albeit with the help of a tad more olive oil.

One key aspect where the Cuisinart DLC-2011CHB wins over many other models is with its slicing blade that offers six different thicknesses ranging from 1 to 6 mm. This lets you get precise with you cuts and slices. Not that 1mm is ever required considering that anything you attempt with this thickness will inevitably turn to mush – but the fact that the option is present, should you ever require it, definitely puts a smile on our faces.

We did feel that the bowl was of lower quality. It is not a polycarbonate bowl rather made from Lexan. While this makes the work bowl super lightweight and dishwasher friendly, it however does bend under force. We have to wait and see how long the bowl retains its structural integrity but from our research, it seems to have a similar lifespan to that of polycarbonate bowls. This bowl comes with a SealTight lid that properly locks into place reducing the chances of accidental spillage during operations. Now, at first cleaning the lid was a hassle thanks to its intricate SealTight design but with a little experimentation, we figured that a quick spray from the sink sprayer followed by a twirl in the top rack of the dishwasher was sufficient to completely clean.
